Number sentences
I am learning to add two numbers together. I put the apples in the middle of the tree and then clicked 8. I clicked 8 because there are 8 apples altogether in the tree. This is easy for me and I am proud.

Recognising contractions
I am learning to recognise contractions. I had to find the matching contractions. This was easy for me because I got it right really quick. I was happy because I got it all right. Sometime I call these words compound words because I forget the name!

Acrostic poem
We are learning to write an acrostic poem. We wrote about spring. It can be tricky to spell words. We enjoyed writing something for each letter. We had to think of a word that started with S, P, R, I, N, G and we had to start our sentence with this letter.
Mrs Bovill typed the stories for us and we helped her publish them. We got to choose a colour for the capital letters, the font and we helped choose the size so our page was full. Our poems look awesome!
We are so proud because Mrs Bovill thinks they are fabulous and we wrote great stories. We are proud because we are poets.
“I like writing my acrostic poem and writing good sentences.” Samantha.
Spring blossoms
Look at our spring blossoms! First we drew the branch going across the page. We coloured our branches using pastel. We made the blossoms by scrunching up tissue paper and gluing them onto our trees. We then made a little bee or butterfly to go on our picture. We sketched our picture and then drew it on our plastic film. Mrs Bovill then cut them out and we glued them onto our picture.

Using our word of the week and writing about community
I am learning to use the word ‘said’ in my writing. We are learning about community too, so ‘The Bee Lady’ came to visit us. I am so proud of my story. It looks lovely, cute, cool and super. It can be tricky to spell words like ‘bee’ and to type the words on the computers. The next step for me might be to try again so I can do it quicker.
I had to write my story on the computer. This took me a long time. It is easy for me. I liked my story on the computer. I am proud I did it right.

Ordering numbers 1-10
"I like playing the t-shirt game."
Root words and their endings
I had to circle endings and the root words. This is a bit tricky for me. I made a little mistake for the word laughs. The ending is 's' and the root word is 'laugh'. Other endings are 'ed' and 'ing'.

Writing for a purpose
We published our story. Our story was about mum. Mum was our word of the week and it was going to be mothers day. We wrote our story so Mum could read it. We have been learning that we write for a purpose. The purpose of our story was to tell Mum something we like about her.
"It was tricky to colour the flowers. It is tricky for me to write 'shopping'. I can sound it out."

Before and after numbers
I am learning about numbers that are before and after. It is tricky to know what number comes before and after. It is easy to count up to the number, this helps me know what number comes before. I can use the hundreds board to help me find the numbers before and after.
"I am pointing at number 13. This is before number 14. This is easy for me. I am proud that I know the number before" - Samantha.

Using illustrations to help me read
I am learning to use the illustrations to help me read. Illustrations help me read tricky words. I can look at the pictures and find words that match the sounds of the letters I can hear and see. Pictures give me clues when I am reading. They help me know what the story is about. I can talk about the pictures.
“I
am pointing at the word lizard and I am pointing at the picture of a lizard.” –
Samantha.
Writing our Word of the Week
I am learning to use the word of the week in my story writing. I had to use the
word see in my story. It is tricky to write words. I can use my word card to
help me. I can try and sound out my letters. I am proud when I write my words.
I am proud when I find the word I need on my word card. I am proud of my
picture I did on Kid Pix.
